Dr. M. Vandevoort is in Nederland en Belgie geregistreerd als Plastisch Chirurg. Hij studeerde af als Doctor in de Genees- Heel- en Verloskunde aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1989. Nadien volgde hij een opleiding in de Algemene Heelkunde aan diezelfde universiteit gedurende 3 jaar. Vervolgens vatte hij een specialisatie aan in de Plastische Heelkunde vanaf 1992 gedurende 1 jaar in het universitair ziekenhuis Gasthuisberg te Leuven, 16 maanden in Frenchay Hospital Bristol, United Kingdom en wederom 1 jaar in het universitair ziekenhuis Gasthuisberg Leuven. Hij behaalde de erkenning tot Plastische Chirurg (Fellow Collegium Chirurgicum Plasticum) in 1995. Een verdere specialisatie in de esthetische en reconstructieve borstchirurgie werd doorlopen in Canniesburn Hospital Glasgow, United Kingdom gedurende één jaar. Daarna vervolledigde hij zijn specialisatie in de esthetische ooglid- en aangezichtsheelkunde d.m.v. een fellowship bij Dr. Marchac in Parijs gedurende 6 maanden. Sedert 1997 is hij aangesteld als staflid borstchirurgie in het Universitair ziekenhuis Gasthuisberg Leuven en als plastisch en esthetisch chirurg in het heilig Hartziekenhuis Roeselare. Hij is lid van de Belgische vereniging voor Plastische Heelkunde, de European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) en The World Society of Reconstuctive Microsurgeons (WSRM).
